Prioritize Even Lighting
Soft, even facial lighting lets the AI model skin tone and shadow uniformly across all generated frames. Strong directional shadows or harsh flash lighting create inconsistencies that become visible during motion. Natural window light or a ring light gives the cleanest result.
Keep a Neutral Starting Expression
For most motion styles — especially Dancing and Head Turn — start with a relaxed, neutral face rather than a big smile or extreme expression. The AI builds the appropriate expression for the chosen motion style from a neutral base, giving more natural-looking transitions.
Face the Camera Directly
A straight-on or very slight angle (up to 20 degrees) gives the motion synthesis model the most facial data to work with. Strong profile angles or heavy downward tilts reduce the AI's ability to reconstruct the motion trajectory and may produce artefacts during head turns.
Leave Space Around Your Face
Crop your source photo so the face occupies roughly 50–70% of the frame, leaving room above the head and on both sides. Animation requires the AI to render movement into surrounding space — a photo with the face cropped edge-to-edge leaves no room for the motion to extend naturally.
Use the Highest Available Resolution
GoGlow's output resolution scales with input quality. A modern smartphone selfie at 12MP or higher will produce crisp, sharp animation frames. Low-resolution inputs (under 500px wide) may result in soft or pixelated animated output even after AI upscaling.
Try Multiple Motion Intensity Settings
GoGlow lets you dial motion intensity from 1 to 5 before generating. For natural-looking animations for professional or memorial use, stay at 1–2. For energetic social content and dancing, push to 4–5. Generating at multiple intensity levels takes seconds and lets you pick your favorite.

Does animation work with group photos?
GoGlow Animated Photos is optimised for solo portraits and delivers the best results when a single face is the clear subject. Group photos are partially supported — GoGlow will animate the most prominent face in the frame — but overlapping faces or very small faces may produce inconsistent motion. For groups, we recommend cropping individual faces before animating.
