Getting Started
What is GoGlow?
GoGlow is an AI-powered photo and video creation app for iPhone (iOS 15+) and Android (Android 9+). It uses advanced generative AI — the same category of technology powering leading AI image generators, fine-tuned specifically for portrait photography — to transform ordinary selfies into professional-quality portraits, artistic renditions, and animated content in seconds.
GoGlow is more than a portrait generator. It's a full AI creative studio with features including AI Video Director, Animated Photos, Talking Avatar, AI Couple Photos, AI Outfit Try-On, HD Upscaling, Background Removal, Old Photo Restore, and more.
How do I get started with GoGlow?
Getting started takes about 60 seconds. Download GoGlow from the App Store (iOS) or Google Play (Android). Open the app, take or upload a selfie, choose one of 100+ portrait styles, and tap Generate. Your AI portrait will be ready in 5–15 seconds.
No account is required to try GoGlow — you get 10 free portrait generations from the moment you open the app. No credit card, no sign-up friction.
Is GoGlow free to use?
Yes. GoGlow is free to download and includes 10 free AI portrait generations for every new user — no credit card required. These 10 generations can be used for any combination of features: individual portraits, couple photos, or other AI portrait modes.
GoGlow Pro is an optional subscription that unlocks unlimited portrait generations, all 100+ styles, HD download quality, and all premium features. You can use GoGlow indefinitely on the free tier and upgrade to Pro only if you want unlimited access.
What devices does GoGlow work on?
GoGlow is available on iPhone running iOS 15 or later and Android phones running Android 9 or later. The app supports all modern iPhone and Android handsets. GoGlow does not currently have a desktop or web app — generation happens in the mobile app and is powered by GoGlow's cloud infrastructure, so any compatible device with an internet connection can use the full feature set.
How many free portrait generations do I get?
Every new GoGlow user receives 10 free AI portrait generations. These can be used across any feature that uses portrait generation — individual portraits, couple photos, different styles — in any combination. Once your 10 free generations are used, you can subscribe to GoGlow Pro for unlimited access.
There are no daily limits on free generations — you can use all 10 in one session if you want to explore different styles.
How long does portrait generation take?
Most GoGlow portrait generations complete in 5–15 seconds over a standard mobile internet connection. The exact time depends on the selected style and current server load, but the vast majority of results arrive in under 20 seconds.
AI Video Director and Animated Photos take slightly longer — typically 20–45 seconds — because video generation is more computationally intensive than still portrait generation. HD upscaling adds a few seconds to the output delivery but does not affect core generation time.
AI Portrait Generation
How does GoGlow generate AI portraits?
GoGlow uses generative AI models fine-tuned specifically for portrait photography. When you upload a selfie, the AI extracts a mathematical representation of your identity — your facial geometry, skin tone, hair characteristics, and distinguishing features — rather than simply analyzing pixels.
This identity representation is then combined with the parameters of your chosen style (lighting, color grading, composition, background) to synthesize a brand-new portrait image. The result is not a filter applied to your selfie — it's a newly generated photograph that looks like it was taken in a real environment.
Will my GoGlow portrait actually look like me?
Yes. GoGlow's AI is specifically optimized for identity preservation — ensuring that generated portraits are clearly and consistently recognizable as you across all styles. Your facial structure, skin tone, and distinguishing features are maintained throughout the generation process.
Input quality significantly affects output quality. A well-lit, clear, front-facing selfie produces the most accurate and flattering results. The AI can work with a wide range of selfie conditions, but strong natural lighting and a face-forward framing give it the most to work with.
What styles are available in GoGlow?
GoGlow offers 100+ portrait styles across multiple categories:
Professional: Studio Portrait, Natural Glow, Clean Headshot, Executive Portrait
Cinematic: Film Noir, Golden Hour, Dramatic, Hollywood Glamour
Artistic: Oil Painting, Watercolor, Charcoal Sketch, Pop Art
Fashion: Vogue Cover, Street Style, Y2K Aesthetic, Editorial
Fantasy: Ethereal Dreamy, Cyberpunk, Anime, Sci-Fi
Vintage: Romantic Vintage, Film Photography, Retro 70s, Polaroid
New styles are added regularly with GoGlow updates. GoGlow Pro unlocks the complete style library; the free plan includes access to a curated selection.
Can I use my own photo rather than taking a new selfie?
Yes. GoGlow lets you upload any existing photo from your camera roll rather than taking a new selfie in the app. The photo you use should be a clear, well-lit portrait with your face as the main subject for best results. GoGlow works with both photos taken with the front-facing camera and rear camera photos taken by others.
The higher the quality of your input photo, the better your portrait output will be. Blurry, very dark, or heavily compressed photos will produce lower-quality results, though GoGlow's AI handles a wide range of input conditions well.
What makes GoGlow portraits different from filters?
Filters modify your existing photo — they work on the pixels that are already there. If your selfie has bad lighting or a distracting background, those problems remain after the filter is applied. The result looks like a filtered selfie, because that's what it is.
GoGlow generates a new image from scratch. Your original selfie is the input, but the output is a different photograph — one synthesized with professional lighting, a clean background, and the visual style you selected. The output can change everything about the visual conditions of the photo while preserving your identity. This is why GoGlow results look like professional photographs rather than filtered selfies.
Can I regenerate if I don't like my portrait result?
Yes. If you're not satisfied with a portrait result, you can regenerate using the same selfie and style, or try a different style. Each generation uses one of your portrait generation credits (or is unlimited with GoGlow Pro).
For best results on regeneration: try adjusting your input selfie (better lighting, more face-forward framing), try a different style variant, or try a different style category altogether. The same input can produce subtly different results on each generation due to the generative nature of the AI.
Features — Couple Photos, Video & Animation
How do AI couple photos work?
GoGlow's couple photos feature accepts two separate portrait selfies and generates a single AI portrait in which both people appear together naturally. The AI processes each person's identity simultaneously, normalizes lighting and scale across both inputs, and then generates a new unified portrait with consistent professional lighting, natural depth between the two subjects, and your chosen style applied coherently to both people.
The result looks like a real photograph of two people together — not two photos pasted side by side — because the AI generates it as a unified scene, not a composite.
Do both people need to be in the same place to create a couple photo?
No — this is one of GoGlow's most popular features for long-distance couples. Each person can be photographed anywhere in the world. One person takes their selfie, sends it to the other, and the GoGlow user uploads both selfies in the app to generate the couple portrait. Only one GoGlow account is needed; the other person just needs to share a photo.
What video features does GoGlow have?
AI Video Director: Takes a portrait photo and generates a short cinematic video clip — adding realistic camera motion, scene depth, and atmospheric effects to produce a mini video production from a single still image.
Animated Photos: Brings still portraits to life with subtle, lifelike motion — eyes that blink, hair that moves gently, expressions that shift. Creates a "living photo" effect that's remarkably realistic.
Talking Avatar: Generates an animated portrait that appears to speak and move, with realistic lip sync and head motion. Useful for content creation, personalized messages, and creative projects.
Birthday Animation: Creates a themed animated birthday portrait video — a popular way to send a personal, creative birthday message.
How does Animated Photo work?
Animated Photo uses AI to analyze a still portrait and generate subtle, realistic motion in the subject — primarily eye movement and blinking, gentle hair movement, and slight expression shifts. The result is a short looping animation (a few seconds) that makes the portrait feel alive without looking artificial or uncanny.
The animation is applied to GoGlow-generated AI portraits as well as to your own existing photos. Results are saved as video files that can be shared directly to Instagram, WhatsApp, iMessage, and other platforms.
What is Talking Avatar?
Talking Avatar animates a portrait to appear to speak with realistic lip sync and head motion. You can use a GoGlow-generated portrait or an existing photo as the base. The feature generates a video clip of the portrait appearing to deliver speech, with natural-looking mouth movement and subtle head gestures synchronized to audio.
Talking Avatar is popular for creative content creation, personalized video messages, and social media content. The output is a video file that can be shared across platforms.
How long do video features take to generate?
Video generation takes longer than still portrait generation due to the additional computational work involved. Animated Photos typically complete in 20–35 seconds. AI Video Director clips typically take 30–60 seconds. Talking Avatar generation time varies with clip length but usually completes in 30–90 seconds.
All video generation happens in GoGlow's cloud — you don't need to keep the app open while generation runs. GoGlow will notify you when your video is ready.

Privacy & Safety
Does GoGlow use my photos to train AI?
No. GoGlow does not use your photos to train AI models. Your selfies are used only for the specific generation you requested — to extract your identity and generate your portrait. Once that process is complete, your input photo is not retained for training purposes.
This is a firm privacy commitment, not a vague disclaimer. GoGlow's AI was trained on licensed datasets, not on user-uploaded photos. Your face will not appear in any training data.
Who can see my photos in GoGlow?
Your photos are processed by GoGlow's secure cloud infrastructure for the purpose of generating your portrait. GoGlow staff do not routinely access individual user photos. Photos are not shared with third parties. Your generated portraits are visible only to you in the app unless you choose to share them.
All photo data is transmitted using TLS (Transport Layer Security) encryption. GoGlow's cloud infrastructure is designed to prevent unauthorized access to user data.
How long does GoGlow store my photos?
GoGlow retains your input selfies and generated portraits for a maximum of 30 days. After 30 days, photos are automatically deleted from GoGlow's servers. You can also request immediate deletion of your data at any time by contacting hello@goglow.ai.
Photos saved to your device's camera roll are stored locally on your device, independent of GoGlow's servers, and are subject to your device's own storage policies.
Can I delete my photos and data from GoGlow?
Yes. You can request deletion of your account and all associated data at any time. To request data deletion, email hello@goglow.ai with the subject line "Data Deletion Request." GoGlow will process your request in accordance with GDPR and CCPA requirements.
Your input photos are automatically deleted from GoGlow's servers after 30 days regardless, so manual deletion requests are primarily relevant for account data, generation history, and any data retained in user profiles.
Is GoGlow GDPR compliant?
Yes. GoGlow is fully compliant with GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation) for European users and CCPA (California Consumer Privacy Act) for California users. This includes: lawful basis for data processing, data minimization (retaining only what's needed), defined retention limits (30 days), rights to access and deletion, and privacy-by-design principles embedded in GoGlow's architecture.
GoGlow's full privacy practices are documented in the Privacy Policy.
Is it safe to upload my face to GoGlow?
GoGlow is designed with your privacy and safety as a core priority, not an afterthought. Key protections: TLS encryption on all uploads, no AI training on user photos, 30-day maximum retention with automatic deletion, no sharing with third-party advertisers, GDPR and CCPA compliance, and the ability to request immediate data deletion at any time.
As with any cloud-based service, you should always review the privacy policy of any app before uploading personal data. GoGlow's privacy policy is publicly available at goglowai.com/privacy-policy.
Use Cases & Applications
Can I use GoGlow portraits for my LinkedIn profile?
Yes, and many professionals do. GoGlow's Studio Portrait and Natural Glow styles produce results that meet LinkedIn's standards for professional profile photos — clean backgrounds, appropriate lighting, professional framing. LinkedIn does not prohibit AI-generated photos, and a high-quality GoGlow portrait is significantly more professional than a typical phone selfie.
GoGlow portraits are used by professionals in technology, finance, consulting, law, healthcare, and many other fields for their LinkedIn headshots. For professional use, Studio Portrait is the most popular style.
Can I use GoGlow photos on dating apps like Tinder, Bumble, and Hinge?
Yes. GoGlow portraits are widely used on dating apps. The Natural Glow and Studio Portrait styles produce results that look professional and flattering without appearing obviously AI-generated. Dating app platforms do not prohibit AI-generated photos.
Profile photo quality is one of the most significant factors in dating app success. A well-generated GoGlow portrait in Natural Glow style — clear, flattering, professional lighting — typically performs significantly better than a standard selfie. Many GoGlow users report improved match rates after updating their profile photos with GoGlow portraits.
Can I print GoGlow portraits?
Yes. GoGlow outputs portraits at resolutions suitable for standard print sizes. GoGlow Pro includes HD download quality, which supports larger print sizes. Common uses include framed wall prints, canvas prints, greeting cards, photo books, and custom merchandise.
For best print results, download using GoGlow Pro's HD quality setting. For print sizes larger than 8×10 inches, HD quality is recommended. Standard quality is suitable for most digital uses and smaller print sizes.
Can I use GoGlow portraits commercially?
GoGlow portraits generated from your own selfies can be used for personal professional purposes including LinkedIn, business cards, websites, social media, and personal branding — these are considered personal use, not commercial licensing. For commercial advertising campaigns, editorial use in media publications, or use in commercial products, review GoGlow's Terms of Service and contact hello@goglow.ai for guidance on commercial licensing.
Is GoGlow good for creating gift portraits?
GoGlow is one of the most popular platforms for portrait gifts. AI-generated portraits make deeply personal, unique gifts for birthdays, anniversaries, Mother's Day, Father's Day, Valentine's Day, and other occasions. The couple photos feature is especially popular for gifts — you can combine two people into a portrait without them needing to be photographed together.
Portrait gifts can be created from a photo you already have of the recipient — you don't need a new photo. Many users create surprise gifts by using existing social media photos of their friends and family as input selfies.
Which GoGlow style is best for professional headshots?
Studio Portrait is the top recommendation for corporate-style professional headshots. It produces clean neutral or gradient backgrounds, directional studio lighting, and professional framing consistent with a high-end corporate photography session.
Natural Glow is recommended for professionals who want a slightly warmer, more approachable look — popular for consulting, coaching, creative, and tech roles where pure corporate formality isn't the goal.
Both styles produce results used daily by professionals on LinkedIn, company websites, conference bios, and business cards. Try both with your selfie to see which better suits your personal brand.
